Tarjei Mikkelsen

Dr. Tarjei S. Mikkelsen, Ph.D., is a leading biotechnology executive and inventor specializing in single-cell and spatial genomics. With a doctorate from the Harvard–MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology, he began his career at the Broad Institute and Harvard Stem Cell Institute, where his lab developed cutting-edge computational and experimental genomic tools—such as Tag‑Seq—for dissecting the regulatory code of the human genome. He later served as VP of Biology at 10x Genomics, driving the development and commercialization of single-cell gene expression, adaptive immune repertoire sequencing, and spatially resolved genomic technologies, and from 2019 to 2023 was CTO at Arsenal Biosciences, where he led platform innovation. Currently, Mikkelsen advises Arsenal, Pixelgen Technologies, and Aikium Inc., and continues to lead technology development in genomics, molecular biology, and bioinformatics, while holding over 20 patents in nucleic acid tagging and processing
