Emma Lundberg
Emma Lundberg, Ph.D., is a professor at Stanford University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, known for her pioneering work in spatial proteomics and cell biology. Her research focuses on mapping the subcellular localization and dynamics of human proteins using high-throughput microscopy, machine learning, and AI-driven modeling, particularly through her leadership of the Subcellular Atlas within the Human Protein Atlas project. Lundberg’s lab investigates how proteins organize within cells across different states—such as the cell cycle or disease conditions—and how mislocalization can signal pathology. Her current work combines systems biology, spatial transcriptomics, and computational modeling to build predictive models of cell behavior and enable new tools for diagnostics, therapeutics, and digital health, including gamified approaches to patient engagement.
