Simon Fredriksson

Co-founder and CEO of Pixelgen Technologies AB, a Tech Bio company at the forefront of innovation in gaining understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind disease. Simon is continually fascinated by how technological innovation can push the frontiers of scientific discovery into new and uncharted territories. He has deep experience as a life science entrepreneur, researcher, and inventor, especially in proteomics research tools.

Simon was co-Founder, Chief Science Officer, and CEO of Olink AB, where he led the development and commercialization of multiple product lines, most notably the Proximity-Extension Assays (PEA) platform for high-throughput multiplex protein detection. These later became the basis of Olink Proteomics AB, a publicly traded proteomics company that exited to ThermoFisher for $3.2B. He served on the boards of Moligo Technologies, Olink AB, Olink Proteomics AB, Biolamina AB, Basic Genomics AB, and Cartana AB.

Simon earned his Doctorate in Molecular Medicine from Uppsala University and spent four years in research at Stanford University. He is an inventor of many patents on Proximity based protein detection by Ligation, Extension, and Network formation.  Pioneered Proximity assays for biomarker research which is now a standard tool used in ~20,000 research papers, and it is the key technical foundation of Olink, Alamar, and other businesses today. He is a former Adjunct Professor of Engineering in Molecular Diagnostics at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).
